Press4Jane Haines
Jane Haines moved to Ashtabula at age 5 when her father Dr. Samuel Morosco opened his ophthalmology practice here. She loved the downtown area, and while many of her friends left to make their careers in other places, she opened her business, Ultimate Appearance Hair Salon, on Main Ave. That was in 1984, and she was 23 years old. Her love of the downtown area led her to assume an active role in the Ashtabula Downtown Development Association (ADDA), an organization dedicated to downtown revitalization. She is the immediate past president of that organization. She has a long history of community involvement and has mastered many skills that would be useful as a city councilperson. As a citizen, property owner, business owner, and community activist, Jane sees the challenges the city faces, the challenges the business community faces, and the challenges the people of Ashtabula face. Jane feels her greatest skill is the ability to think quickly and react appropriately to a changing world. She has both the ability to lead and the ability to follow and will work well with city officials, City Council, County Commissioners, and the State of Ohio to move Ashtabula forward. The top three issues on her agenda are: • Economic development; • Public safety; • Road maintenance and repair. Says Jane, “I am the voice you want and the change you need!”
