A lifelong Ashtabula resident, Tom Kane decided to run for Ward 1 councilor to give back to his community. Having lived his entire life in Ward 1, Tom graduated from St. John High School in 1973 and worked for Ducro Services for the past 31 years.
He is excited for the economic opportunities that await the city of Ashtabula with new developments in the Harbor with the hotel and the Petmin project. “I have always loved our community and had the utmost respect for those who have been public servants,” said Tom, whose father was a fireman for the city for 26 years and grandfather for 41 years. “My goal is to be the voice of the residents of Ward 1 and have a hand in whatever can be done to improve our infrastructure, bring more jobs and businesses, and reduce the drug activity in the community.”
A lifelong member of Mother of Sorrows Church, Tom is the oldest of eight children (seven still living) and enjoys caring for his two dogs, Quincy and Bella. “Anyone with questions or suggestions is welcome to contact me at 261-9412,” said Tom. “I really want to be the voice of the people.”
