Jeremiah Smith, 39, is running for the Geneva Area School District Board of Education. He has lived in Geneva his entire life and graduated from Geneva High School before earning a bachelor’s degree from Mercyhurst University. He and his wife are raising three children, all of whom are enrolled in Geneva schools, giving him a direct, personal stake in the education and safety of students in the district.
Jeremiah works as a firefighter and paramedic with the Saybrook Fire Department. In that role, he is trained to respond to emergencies, protect lives, and stay calm under pressure. Those skills, combined with his experience as a businessman and property owner, give him a practical understanding of responsibility, budgeting, and community needs.
As someone who has always called Geneva home, Jeremiah knows the schools from both a student’s and a parent’s perspective. He believes the two most important responsibilities of the school district are providing a strong education for every child and making sure schools remain safe for students and staff. With his background in public safety and his commitment as a parent, he feels he is in a position to help the district focus on those priorities.
Jeremiah is running not as an outsider, but as someone who has lived, worked, and raised a family in Geneva. He understands the concerns of local parents and taxpayers, and he wants to make sure that education stays strong and schools remain safe for years to come.
