Ashtabula County deserves a judge who stands for fairness, public safety, and the rule of law. Harold E. Specht Jr., a dedicated public servant and lifelong American patriot, is running for Judge of the Ashtabula County Court of Common Pleas, the bench being vacated by the Honorable Judge David A. Schroeder.
With over 25 years of public service, Judge Specht has built a reputation for integrity, justice, and protecting the residents of Ashtabula County. As Assistant Prosecutor and Chief Assistant Prosecutor, he handled thousands of serious felony cases, including murder, rape, robbery, organized crime, and illegal drugs, always with the safety of our communities in mind. He has argued before the 11th District Court of Appeals and served as Solicitor for the Villages of North Kingsville and Orwell.
Elected to the bench in 2018 and re-elected in 2024, to Ashtabula County Court-Eastern Division Judge Specht has led Ashtabula County’s Veteran’s Court, the only program of its kind in the county, giving veterans who have stumbled a helping hand and a path back to productive lives. His court has been certified and recertified by the Supreme Court of Ohio, reflecting his commitment to protecting citizens while offering justice and compassion.
Judge Specht began his career serving our nation in the United States Marine Corps, proudly protecting fellow Marines during Desert Shield and Desert Storm. He earned a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science at Cleveland State University and a Juris Doctor from Cleveland-Marshall College of Law. For over two decades, he has called Jefferson home, where he actively supports St. Jude’s, Tunnel to Towers, Wounded Warriors, the Cleveland Food Bank, and local veterans’ organizations.
A strong supporter of public safety and the Second Amendment, Judge Specht is a member of the NRA, the Marine Corps League, the American Legion, and the Farm Bureau. He brings a lifetime of service, discipline, and fairness to the bench.
