In his first term in the Ohio House, David has already earned the trust of his colleagues and constituents through tireless service and thoughtful leadership. As Vice Chair of the Ways & Means Committee, and a member of the Energy, Pensions and Public Insurance, and Arts, Athletics, and Tourism Committees, David brings fiscal responsibility, forward-thinking policy, and a strong work ethic to the Statehouse. These roles are not ceremonial they reflect confidence in his ability to handle complex issues that directly affect Ohio families, workers, seniors, and small businesses.

David’s commitment to service began long before his election. A lifelong resident of Ashtabula County, he joined Austinburg Township’s zoning board at just 16 years old, helping ease regulations to support business growth. Even as he gained valuable experience working in state and federal government from the Columbus Statehouse to the U.S. House of Representatives and the Republican National Committee in Washington, D.C. David never lost sight of home. After graduating from Washington and Lee University, he chose to return to Ashtabula County in 2015, determined to invest his talents where they mattered most.

Before serving in the Ohio House, David was elected Ashtabula County Auditor and previously served as Fiscal Officer for Austinburg Township, all while working full time and earning his MBA from Baldwin Wallace University. His record proves he understands budgets, accountability, and the importance of protecting taxpayer dollars.

David’s roots run deep across Ashtabula and Trumbull Counties, shaped by a family legacy of service, agriculture, faith, and blue collar values. From public service to manufacturing, farming to church leadership, his family’s example instilled in him a belief that leadership is about giving back. His involvement in 4-H, community organizations, Rotary, Lions Club, housing development, education support services, and faith-based outreach reflects that belief in action.

Recognized as a 2017 Top 5 Under 45 Award recipient and a graduate of Ashtabula County LEADERship, David has consistently proven that leadership is not about titles it’s about results.

Re-electing David Thomas means choosing proven leadership, fiscal responsibility, strong moral values, and a representative who understands our communities because he comes from them.
